ARTIST STATEMENT

My creative work includes drawings and paintings using graphite, ink, acrylic, and oil paints. I create paintings and other 2D artwork that depicts the natural world around us. I am captivated by the ordinary scenes in life where certain colors or spaces radiate light and create different atmospheres. My inspiration comes from the way light catches on trees and land, changing the colors and creating different lighting conditions. I occasionally include humans in my landscapes to remind us that we exist together with nature.
I seek to give my audience an experience where they can disconnect from their busy lives and immerse themselves in nature. The purpose of my art is to give them time to ground themselves in the present moment and feel at ease. I take the natural world and freeze them into a single snapshot, creating a time capsule for my future self.
